Dolce Wind Quintet performs a concert at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, at First Congregational United Church of Christ of Anoka, 1923 Third Avenue South, Anoka, Minnesota. The program of American music for woodwind quintet features the familiar – “Shenandoah,” “Simple Gifts,” Joplin’s “Pine Apple Rag,” and Morton Gould’s “Pavanne” – as well as a suite of Latin American-inspired pieces by William Grant Still and impressionistic pastorales and dances.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 for children 13 and under.

Dolce members are flutist Nancy Wucherpfennig, oboist Marilyn Ford, clarinetist Karen Hansen, bassoonist Ford Campbell, and horn player Vicki Wheeler. They are freelance musicians and teachers in the Twin Cities area who also hold positions with other chamber ensembles and in orchestras from Duluth to Bloomington to Rochester.
Formed in 1995, the quintet performs for The Schubert Club Courtroom Concert series in St. Paul and the Munsinger/Clemens Gardens concert series in St. Cloud, and plays classical and popular music for weddings, artists’ series, charity benefits, and other public and private events.

In July 2011, Dolce Wind Quintet was featured as invited guest artists for Bayfield (Wisconsin) “Summer Mostly Thursdays” Concert Series. The ensemble also plays summer and winter concerts annually at The Contented Cow, a British pub in Northfield, Minnesota.

In December 2010, Dolce was the “house band” for Classical Minnesota Public Radio’s “Taste of the Holidays” live program at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul. The previous December, the quintet was featured in a broadcast “Holiday Sampler” of professional ensembles from the region. Dolce also performed live on-air during MPR Day in Rochester, Minnesota, and for MPR’s Music Alive event at Calhoun Square in Minneapolis.
For the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota, Dolce videotaped a live performance and interviews used in music education programs nationwide.
